How to apply

Step 1:
Choose your degree

Choose the University of Bath degree programme you want to progress to after the International Foundation Year. Click on the link to see the list of these degrees.

Step 2:
Complete the application form

Click on the link to go to the application form. There is a checklist at the end of the form showing the documents you should send with your application, and they are also described below. The email address for sending the application is,  and this is also given at the top of the application form.

You should take special care with the section for your personal statement. It is very important that you answer the questions in this section fully, telling us why you want to study on the International Foundation Year, and why you want to go to the University of Bath.

You will need a copy of Microsoft Word to open this form.

Step 3:
Prepare the supporting documents


In addition to the application form, you will need to copy or scan the following documents.

English language level

Evidence of your English level, as shown on your valid IELTS certificate. The minimum IELTS requirement is 6.0. A score of 5.5 in one part of the test will be considered if the other three parts are 6.5 or higher.

The certificate must show the UKVI number, which indicates that you took it at a test centre specifically authorized by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). When you register for the test, be sure to confirm that you want to take the test for visa and immigration purposes.

School transcripts and exam certificates

Proof of your academic achievements over the past three years. If you have finished school, please include your high school graduation certificate. Check the Academic requirements for your country to see if your grades are strong enough to meet the minimum requirements. If your country is not represented, please send your school transcripts and we will then let you know if you are eligible.

Each relevant document must be in English, and must be signed and dated by the school. If it is a translation, then it will need to show the signature of the translator, the date of translation, and the name and stamp of the translation organisation. It must also include a statement that it is an accurate translation of the original document. Please also send a copy of the original documents.


The relevant pages of your passport including the information page and any relevant visas.

Letter(s) of recommendation

Recommendation letter(s) from your teachers at school or other organisations.
