Bursary and Learner Support Fund Funding and Fees

The Bursary & Learner Support Fund (LSF) can help students in a variety of different ways. A large number of students receive financial help with the exam and resources fees or the cost of travel, and many have received help with the cost of essential equipment, uniforms, books and materials.

 

For many students facing financial hardship, the LSF can be the ‘key’ in enabling them to succeed at College and secure a better future.

As well as the LSF, there are alternative sources of funding available to many students who require additional help.

Getting to College

 

 

If you are in care, a care leaver, getting income support or are disabled and get both DLA and ESA then you will be guaranteed a bursary of £1,200.

 

If you are in one of the eligible groups then please complete the Bursary & Learner Support Fund application form and provide one of the following as supporting proof:

 

  • a letter from your Social Worker confirming that you are/used to be in care or
  • a recent letter confirming that you receive Income Support or both DLA and ESA

 

Bursary students can get help towards:

 

Course Fees

ALL students must pay the first £40 of course fees themselves.

 

Additional Materials

When completing the application form please provide full details of the materials you need e.g. text book title with ISBN numbers, uniform order forms, safety boots – size etc. We will order these for you. If you have any order forms for uniforms, kit etc. please hand these in with your application form.

 

Travel

To be eligible for help from the Bursary you should be a full time students living at least 3 miles from College (www.multimap.com). Students who live outside of B&NES need to contact their Local Education Authority for help.

 

 

Travel to university open days and interviews

The cost of travelling to open day events and university interviews will be fully funded. We can fund up to 3 visits.

 

Monthly Payment

Bursary students may also receive a monthly payment.

 

 

Additional materials

If you are eligible for the Learner Support Fund, full time students you can get help towards materials such as uniform, text books, safety boots, stationery etc.

 

Course fees

If you are eligible for the Learner Support Fund, you may be able to get some financial help towards your course fees.

 

Please note that funding is NOT AVAILABLE TOWARDS TUITION FEES, however we can help towards the reduced fee which covers resources and exam fees.

 

Funding is very limited, so your course fees won’t be completely funded but some help is available.
