There are many ways in which you can work with us:
We are interested in opportunities for work experience placements which will help our students to develop their employability skills. If you can offer a student a place either for a block of time such as a week, or for a regular one day per week for a longer period of time, we’d love to hear from you.
The futures team run the College’s job shop and would welcome any vacancies, including part-time, which you would like to promote to our students. Once we have promoted a vacancy, we will give you the CVs of the interested students and you can choose who you would like to interview for your vacant post.
We would like to hear from you if you could help our students to practise and develop their interview skills. We are looking for employers who could run mock interviews for some students and give them feedback on how they can improve.
Rate a CV
It helps our students to understand what an employer in their chosen sector will rate an application or CV. If you can offer some time to look at CVs of students who want to become part of your industry sector or, if you are a recruitment consultant who understands the needs of many sectors, the Futures team would love to hear from you.
A Day in Your Life
We are looking for employers and/or professionals to talk to our students about working in your industry. They need to know how you got into the sector, how you can progress, the highs and the lows of your working life. They would also like to know about the different roles they could have in the sector and in your organisation.
Similar to ‘A day in your life’, students get huge benefits from visiting your workplace and seeing how things work in practice. Inviting a group of students who are studying a course relevant to your sector, to come and visit your company, would be an invaluable experience for them.
Mentor a Student
Could you offer some time to coach a student who would like to work in a role similar to yours? Perhaps help a student to have the confidence to apply for jobs, talk to them about what the employer may be looking for and help them to prepare for an interview.
It is good experience for students to work to a live brief with pressures and deadlines which they would encounter in working life. Our students have worked on promotional campaigns, organised events and conferences, built websites and apps, to name but a few. If you have a project which you think would be good experience for our students, please get in touch.
Join us! Find out about becoming a guest lecturer on one of our courses. Use your own industry experience and/or specialism to add value to the what our students need to learn. You could deliver one session, one module or more, with the flexibility of returning to your workplace if you are needed. You can also improve your training skills and work towards an Award in Education and Training qualification.
If you can help with any of the above please contact our Futures team on firstname.lastname@example.org
