The National Original Print Exhibition, established by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), is an international open submission competition celebrating the best of contemporary printmaking.
Catherine’s piece ‘After Käthe’ is one of three prints she made that got through the competition to appear in the exhibition.
Catherine’s work is usually abstract this piece is inspired by Käthe Kollwitz, a German Expressionist artist best known for her print, the Weavers.
Catherine has taken the Love2Learn printmaking course for the last three years following her Fine Art degree.
She said: “I wouldn’t have been able to create this work without the Printmaking course at Bath College.
“The teaching staff are knowledgeable and really helpful and there is a great atmosphere.
“Despite not living locally, I keep coming back for the course from Swindon as the facilities at the college are excellent.”
‘After Käthe’ is on display on display at the National Original Print Exhibition until 30th September. Catherine hopes to have her work on display next year’s exhibition.
