Barbering Level 2 Certificate
This Barbering Level 2 Certificate course is designed for hairdressers who have recently gained the NVQ 2 in Ladies Hairdressing to complete specific units to gain a qualification in Men’s Hairdressing.
What topics are covered?
The units of study are:
- Create basic patterns in hair
- Cut hair using basic barbering techniques
- Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
- Dry and finish men’s hair
The course structure will include learning practical barbering skills in our professional salons enhanced by theoretical knowledge.
What are the entry requirements?
All applicants must be interviewed by telephone to verify that they hold a NVQ Level 2 in Ladies Hairdressing.
This will enable a claim for RPL. Students will need to demonstrate a high level of commitment and enthusiasm to succeed the assessment criteria within the time frame.
What qualifications will I gain?
Level 2 Certificate in Barbering.
Who is the awarding body?VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust)
How will I learn?
Projects, oral questions, written tests and the production of a portfolio of completed work.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed on a continuous basis within a realistic working environment.

Uniform of black trousers and black top must be worn in the hairdressing salons. You must bring with you a basic hairdressing kit. Orders forms will be available to purchase barbering tools and equipment.

Where will I need to go on my first day?On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring a basic hairdressing kit.

What else do I need to know?To avoid disappointment, please make sure you apply for your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full.
