Cosmetic Make-Up Level 2 Certificate
This part-time level 2 Cosmetic Makeup course will enable learners to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required to be proficient in the application of cosmetic makeup for clients, as well as skills for instructing clients on makeup application. This will include day, evening and special occasion makeup application as well as basic preparation techniques to cleanse the skin. You will also be able to analyse skin types and face shapes. This level 2 qualification course also includes eye treatments, covering tinting of brows and lashes and eyebrow shaping with tweezers.
What topics are covered?
You will learn: to be able to apply and instruct on make-up application; to shape eyebrows using tweezers; to tint lashes and eyebrows; to understand and work to relevant health and safety procedures; there will also be a theory section on health and safety practice in the salon including client care and communication in beauty-related industries.
What are the entry requirements?
Good understanding of English as this is a level 2 course.

How will I learn?
Please note this is an intensive course which has a lot of home study and may need internet access for research and project work. Areas of home study include: anatomy of the head neck and shoulders; health and safety work packs and assignments; complete a make-up project. It is very important for you to attend each session. Should you, for any reason, be unable to attend any session, it is your responsibility to ensure any missed work is completed. Part-time courses are subject to minimum number of students.
How will I be assessed?
Multiple choice exams at the end of the course will include: make-up, eye treatments, anatomy and health and safety, students will need to get 70% to pass and only have 3 chances to take. These exams may be online or paper based depending on availability.
Students will need to complete a portfolio of work, with evidence of all the practical treatments that have been assessed, at least 4 make-ups and 4 eye treatments to cover all the ranges.
Students may have to bring in models and will be required to receive each treatment themselves as well as perform on the other students.
Students may have to come in to do a treatment as part of their assessment when the external verifier comes in which is usually in the day time.
Are there any additional costs?
Make Up Kit £160 (order form issued at first session). Uniform £80 (order form issued at first session). Uniform consists of: Navy tunic, Navy trousers, Black flat enclosed shoes. Student can supply own as long as it compiles with college dress code.

Where will I need to go on my first day?On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.
What do I need to bring?
Your kit that includes: headband, bowls, basic cleansers and make up brushes, 3 small towels.
Code of dress: uniform must be worn in the beauty salon; facial and tongue piercing is not permitted; hair must be neatly tied back off the face; nail extensions and varnish must not be worn; only a small pair of stud earrings and a wedding ring are allowed to be worn in the salon.
What else do I need to know?To avoid disappointment, please make sure you apply for your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full.
