Education and Training Level 5 Diploma

This Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training has been designed to take a practical approach to the application of the knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher in the Life-Long Learning sector. The course runs on a Friday afternoon for two years.

A minimum of 100 hours teaching over the 2 years is required. This teaching must be in a ‘full’ teacher role involving planning, teaching and assessing a variety of learners across more than one level. Voluntary placement can be provided where a subject specialism matches the College’s provision.

What are the entry requirements?

This teaching must be in a full teacher role involving planning, teaching and assessing a variety of learners across more than one level. Voluntary placement can be provided where a subject specialism matches the College’s provision.

What qualifications will I gain?

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is the replacement of the DTLLS qualification. The Diploma has been designed to take a practical approach to the application of the knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher in the Life Long Learning sector.

How will I learn?

The students learn through discussion, video clips, group work, case studies and through practical tasks within placement.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment is through ongoing assignments and workplace observations.

Are there any additional costs?

There may be some additional; fees relating to any off-site trips and visits. These will be discussed at Induction.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring proof of identity.

What else do I need to know?

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you apply for your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.

The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check here for term dates.
