Health and Science (T Level)
This exciting new programme offers a route into nursing, mental health and allied health professions within health and social care. This is ideal for someone who is interested in working for the NHS in a Health and Social Care role as the programme has been created with industry experts enabling an enhanced knowledge of sector specific knowledge and skills ensuring you are employment ready or wish to progression into higher education or an apprenticeship. This new cutting-edge technical qualification is equivalent to three A levels with an emphasis on industry placement.
What topics are covered?
This T-Level will develop core study skills such as critical thinking, analysing, problem solving, communication, organisation and decision making. The skills will be developed through the core components which will include modules such as working within the health and science sector, the history of the NHS and modern practice, managing personal information, effective clinical practice along with health and wellbeing.
Majority of what you will learn will reflect ‘real’ working life scenarios with an opportunity to work with professionals to see in-action decisions, this will support your application process beyond Bath College. The opportunity to use critical knowledge and explore this within practice will give you an insight into a range of professional Health disciplines that you may way wish to specialise in. Excitingly, you will have use of our new laboratories to investigate science within the health care sector. In addition to this you will immerse yourself with an industry placement over 45 days or 315hours in total gaining invaluable experience in your chosen career path.
Your course will be made up of a mixture of in class and practical hands on experience. Whether it be exploring molecular science in our state of the art laboratories or practising your manual handling and treatment of a service user using simulated ward equipment: your journey into healthcare will be exciting and provide you with the necessary skills to pursue your future aspirations.
What are the entry requirements?
The entry requirements are as follows:
- English Language: 4 or above
- English Literature: 4 or above
- Maths: 4 or above
- Double Science: 4/4 or above

How will I be assessed?
- Paper A written examination
- Paper B written examination
- Employer-set project: The purpose of the employer-set project is to ensure that you have the opportunity to apply core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer-set brief.
In order to achieve a grade for the core component, you must have results for both sub-components (the core (written) examination and the employer-set project). The combined results from these sub-components will be aggregated to form the overall core component grade (A* to E and U).

You are also required to successfully achieve a distinction/merit/pass grade in one of the occupational specialism components.
