Stonemasonry: Intro Programme
This Introduction to Stonemasonry course is designed to teach you the processes involved in the production of architectural stonework. Whether you are looking to enter the trade as a stonemason, expand your knowledge of working with stone, involved or interested in restoration and conservation, or perhaps own a stone property in need of maintenance, this course is the ideal place to begin.
What topics are covered?
Roles in the stone industry, identification of stone, full size setting out, templet making, basic hand skills in carving and banker work to produce an architectural component and learn how to fix the stonework together.
Who is the course aimed at?
Ideal for beginners and anyone wishing to enter the Stonemasonry industry.
How will I learn?
The course is a hands-on experience from the first day. Practical demonstrations and exercises with some individual tuition.

Level 1 Stonemasonry Diploma
Are there any additional costs?
You will be required to provide your own safety boots. Use of tools, stone and safety glasses are provided.

Where will I need to go on my first day?On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Cam Building at Somer Valley Campus.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring safety boots. All tools and materials will be supplied.
What else do I need to know?To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full.
