Landbased Studies Award Level 1

Course Overview

This is an introduction to the skills required to work in the floristry industry with an emphasis on practical skills and portfolio building. It is an intensive course, which runs over two and a half days a week, and includes floral design, shop displays and the identification of flowers, foliages and plants.


What are the entry requirements?

You should have a minimum of Entry 3 maths and English or GCSEs at grades E – F/2-1. However this could be discussed at an informal interview. A willingness and commitment to learn new skills is essential.


How will I learn?

Students will be assessed by practical activities as an ongoing assessment, building a portfolio and a multiple choice test that covers knowledge and understanding.


What can I do after this course?

You can progress to a Level 2 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Floristry. This will be subject to the overall grade achieved for the Level 1 Diploma, satisfactory maths and English levels and an interview.
