Printmaking (CPD for Teachers)

These courses are designed for art and design teachers or for anyone interested in taking printmaking processes into a learning environment. You will be guided through technical information, be provided with handouts to help you record the processes and be given tips on how to deliver back in the classroom. Some processes will be appropriate for school classroom activities, whilst others will introduce you to the specialist equipment available in the college printmaking studio.

10-week workshop:

2-day workshop:

  • Print development from primary and secondary sources
  • Monoprinting

  • Presentation of development work and final prints

Who is the course aimed at?

10-week workshop: Designed for those with a professional or personal interest in art education and teaching and would like to gain further knowledge and experience in the discipline of printmaking. You will be shown how to display final prints and development work – and encouraged to record your artwork in an A3 sketchbook which could be used as a visual teaching resource.

 

2-day workshop: Designed for those with a professional or personal interest in art education and teaching and would like to be introduced to basic printmaking processes. As time is limited we will be producing small and quick outcomes – the emphasis on the technique rather than extensive design development.

 

Both courses are ideal for for secondary school teachers, college lectures and anyone teaching adults.

Who will be my tutor?

Lucinda Young is a practising printmaker and qualified art lecturer with over 25 years of experience working in Further Education and more recently with young children. Over her career she worked at Penwith, Truro and Bath College delivering a range of disciplines within art and design. She has extensive experience working with teenagers and adults from a range of learning levels – and successfully ran the Level 1 ,2 and 3 full time art courses, as well as an A level programme during a 20 year period at Bath College. Lucinda has currently been facilitating art activity workshops for children aged between 6 – 11.

How will I learn?

You will learn from set tasks and actively producing your own work. You will be given technical demonstrations and learn the do’s and don’ts of basic printmaking. Discussion and peer sharing will be fully encouraged!

Are there any additional costs?

Materials will be provided although extra paper for large print runs may need to be individually purchased. Optional A3 sketchbook for recording work/visual teaching resource.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.

What do I need to bring?

You will not be required to bring anything with you to the first session as drawing materials will be supplied.

What else do I need to know?

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.

The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check the term dates.
