Bath College offers Higher National Certificate in General, Mechanical and Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses. Entry Requirements

The HNC requires 96 UCAS points via A-levels or Level 3 AME / Diploma or any other suitable qualification. Merits are required in the following BTEC Level 3 Units: RQF/ NQF 2016 Unit 1 Engineering Principles / Unit 7. Calculus to solve engineering problems / Unit 8. Further engineering mathematics. Or QCF 2010 Unit 4. Mathematics for engineering technicians / Unit 28.Further mathematics for engineering technicians. GCSE English and Maths C/4. Mature students who do not meet the entry criteria are encouraged to apply and will be considered on the basis of relevant work experience and passing the course entrance assessment.

You will be taught via a mixture of lectures, laboratory workshops and directed independent study tasks. Work and progress is assessed by a range of methods, which may include assignments, projects, case studies and practical exercises. Employers may also be involved with project work and other assessments to help ensure that course content is up to date and relevant.

What can I do next?

HNC can lead to Level 5 HND at Bath College or elsewhere. Successful HND graduates are eligible to enroll onto the final year of a Bachelor's degree to top up their qualification.
