Before you enrol in a course, you will be invited to an English language assessment. This helps us decide which course is best for you.

Course fees:

Some courses are free, but some have a small fee. This price is different for everyone.

To find out more or get help, email ESOL@bathcollege.ac.uk or call 01225 328720.

CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

If you would like to teach English to speakers of other languages in the UK or abroad, this Cambridge CELTA course is globally recognised and highly requested by employers.

The CELTA course at Bath College is face-to-face and will help you develop the practical skills and theory you need to teach.

The course is suitable if you have little to no experience, and you want a recognised qualification to progress your career.

It is a level 5 qualification on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

While you don’t need any teaching experience, you must:

  • Be over 20 years old
  • Have English skills at a level C2 on the CEFR
  • Have an education level strong enough for higher education

However, if you are over 18 or don't have the right qualifications, you may be accepted if you succeed in your interview.

You will also need to complete a pre-interview language test and an interview to be offered a place on the course.
