We work with parents and carers to help young people at Bath College.

When your child leaves school, you want them to get the support they deserve.
College allows children to build independence and self-study skills with tutor support. This helps every learner at Bath College progress and experience the best of both worlds.
Every learner has a six-week probation period.
During the probation period, learners will take assessments, and tutors will study learners’ attendance and behaviour.
After six weeks, the tutor will review the period with the student. If the student is successful, they will get a place in the course.
If the student is not successful, we will invite you to a meeting. Here, you can talk with the tutor and the Head of Department to find a different course.
Each student will meet with their tutor five times a year. In this meeting, they will set targets and review progress.
You will get a written review twice a year and an invitation to an evening with lecturers to talk about your child’s progress.
We value the voice of our students.
Each course has a Student Union Executive to represent students’ views.
Two students are governors at the college.
One visits the Senior Leadership group meetings. The other sits on the Equality and Diversity and the Health and Safety committees.
Students can give feedback on their course. They can also meet with the principal and senior managers each term to voice their opinions.
If you have any questions, please talk to your child’s tutor or call 01225 312191.
The college has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and harassment.
At their induction, we teach students how to handle bullying and harassment.
Our Safeguarding Team can support and advise students. We do not accept any bullying or harassment. Poor behaviour will be dealt with.
If you have any bullying or harassment problems, please email safe@bathcollege.ac.uk to contact the Student Welfare Team.
If a student would like to succeed, attendance is key.
We track absences closely. Our tutorial support system and conduct process means we can handle any of these problems.
Students will not reach their potential if they do not attend class.
The college can help students apply for financial support.
Learner Support Fund Guaranteed Bursary
The Learner Support Fund helps students from low-income families. This can help you buy books, equipment, or pay for travel to and from the college.
Visit Student funding for more details.
The college offers extra help for all learners.
For example, our Wellow House SEND Centre at the Somer Valley Campus allows everyone to thrive.
And with on-hand expert staff, there is support for all learners who need it.
To find out how we can help your child, email learningsupport@bathcollege.ac.uk.
Bath College may take 14-16-year-old students if their school refers them.
The college then works with both the parents and the student to fill out the application form.
Courses at the college cover many subjects.
If your child is registered for Elective Home Education (EHE), we do not run this provision, but we are reviewing this for the future.
Please talk to your child’s school to find out more.
