Course Overview

This Level 3 course follows on from our Part Time Level 2 qualification in Counselling Skills and enables learners to work towards becoming a reflective practitioner of counselling. It covers theories of human development, self-awareness, supervision and issues of difference and diversity. It also provides knowledge and understanding of the three core theories and theorists that underpin counselling and addresses the nature of psychological problems and how they may be approached. This qualification focuses on theory as well as applied practice. Students will be encouraged to develop their listening skills and use reflective learning techniques for their personal development.

This course is the next level of our progression pathway to becoming a qualified counsellor. It is also suitable for those who are already working in helping and supporting roles and are looking at expanding their counselling skills.

This course is aimed at adults aged 19+. Each applicant will be contacted for an interview.

You will need to hold a Level 2 qualification in Counselling that contains both an element of theory and practical skills to enrol in this course.

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you apply for your chosen course early. Priority for places will be given to students who completed their Level 2 qualification at Bath College. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course.

 

Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress to study the Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and achieve professional status in counselling.

 

You will be taught by a specialist tutor via face-to-face lessons in the classroom. Units will be delivered as lectures, tutorials, group discussions and experiential activities. There will be 4 additional one-day workshops. You will be assessed through written journals, practical exams and a written external exam.

 

You will gain an AIM Award Level 3 Certificate in Counselling.

 

This qualification is funded by the government's Free Courses for Jobs. Eligible learners can enrol for free depending on their age, address, prior attainment level, employment, and income.
