You will need to have background knowledge of highways and mathematics. You will be given guidance and practice in the principles of good highway design. Emphasis is placed on efficiency and safety of design within the national recommendations. The combined effects of physical construction with traffic management are explored. Manual calculations are explained as is the use of appropriate computer programs in highway design.
