Course Overview

Standalone Functional Skills English provides the basis of effective communication and understanding across the three subject skill areas; speaking and listening, reading, and writing and is designed for learners working at Entry level 3 to level 2. The course allows learners to build skills and confidence towards a recognised qualification and can be a useful steppingstone to GCSE English. Functional Skills English can be a 6-week intensive; 12 weeks roll on roll off or a 36-week course. Delivery is 2 hours per week in addition to one hour tutorial.

Entry level 3 understanding of spoken and written English
Face to face teaching in a classroom environment. You will be assessed through an initial written diagnostic assessment, speaking and listening will be formally assessed in class and reading and writing exams can be taken throughout the year either online or paper based in exam conditions.
Functional Skills English level 2 can be seen as steppingstone to GCSE English.
The course allows learners to build skills and confidence towards a recognised qualification and can be a useful steppingstone to GCSE English.
