Last week, we wrapped up something really special: our Art for Wellbeing learners showcased their work in an exhibition at Victoria Art Gallery, a public art museum in Bath, created in collaboration with mental health organisation, Bath Mind. Over the past few weeks, this group of adults came together to explore creativity, support their wellbeing, and try something new, and the results were truly moving.
The exhibition was full of variety, personality, and heart. There were bold abstract pieces like Sally’s colourful Stripe painting:
And thoughtful nods to classical art, like John’s Venus with a Mirror:
Every piece had a story behind it, some joyful, some reflective, all completely individual. It was amazing to see how different everyone's work was, and how much it said about their journey.
A huge thank you to our tutor Janet Koopmans, who guided the group so gently and skilfully. Her calm, encouraging presence made the sessions feel like a safe, welcoming space for everyone.
Thanks also to Bath Mind, whose support made this collaboration possible, and to Victoria Art Gallery for giving our learners the chance to display their work in such an inspiring, professional setting. Seeing their pieces up on the walls, with visitors stopping to admire them, was a real confidence boost for everyone involved.
This wasn’t just about making art, it was about connection, self-expression, and taking time for wellbeing. It was a joy to see the group grow together, laugh together, and create something they could feel proud of.
We’re so proud of what this group has achieved, and we hope the exhibition gave people a sense of just how powerful art can be with wellbeing in mind.
