How will I be taught and assessed?

You will attend classes at the City Centre Campus in Bath.

With the help of our expert Art tutors, you will learn the key art skills to take the next step in your creative journey.

Plus, the City Centre Campus offers advanced facilities, so you can develop your technique with the latest equipment:

  • Specialist studios
  • State-of-the-art workshops
  • Printmaking facilities
  • Mac and PC suites
  • A darkroom

If you love to produce work that you're proud to show to others and want to do rather than sit in the classroom, this course is your first step.

You will sit short projects based on coursework.

To build your portfolio, you will use sketchbooks and create PowerPoints.

You will also sit a ten-week exam project at the end of the year.

Don't worry, this isn't an essay.

This is a chance to choose a personal theme for a creative project and practice the skills you learned.

What can I do next?

After this course, you will feel confident and ready to progress to the Level 2 Art, Design & Media Level 2 Diploma.

Many students who take this course progress through the levels and go on to university.

Each qualification is issued by the University of the Arts London (UAL).

The Level 1 Art and Design course is designed to help you gain confidence, establish a solid foundation of knowledge and develop your core creative skills.
