This pathway offers you the chance to develop your skills in our
state-of-the-art Construction Skills Centre at the Somer Valley Campus.
Ideal
for those pursuing a career in the construction industry as a Site Carpenter,
this qualification is designed to enhance and specialise your knowledge and
practical abilities in site carpentry.
Youll gain insight into the
construction industry, including the fundamentals of building design and
construction, and the types of information used throughout the process. The
course also covers essential topics such as health, safety, and environmental
considerations on construction sites, along with effective communication and
supervisory skills like planning, organising, and pricing work.
In addition,
youll develop hands-on expertise in specialist site carpentry tasks, including
second fixing operations, installing double doors and mouldings, and operating
both fixed and portable machinery.
If you are joining at Level 3 you will need two GCSEs, preferably at grade 4 or above, including maths and English, as well as holding a Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry.
You will be taught by our industry specialist lecturers, completing theory sessions and practical tasks which will lead you to complete workshop-based practical assessments and theory based end-of-unit knowledge tests.
This qualification helps prepare you for work in the construction industry, with a specific focus on site carpentry. On successful achievement of this level 3 you will be qualified to move on to a career in site carpentry whether thats on site of working in customers houses. Alternatively, you can progress on to a career in Higher education moving towards HNCs or HNDs in Construction in the Built Environment or in a pathway towards Construction design and management.

You will be seeking to consolidate your skills and knowledge of the trade in order to progress to become a specialist in site carpentry. This pathway is suited for people aged 16-18 and may also meet the needs of mature students up to 25 years. Those who successfully complete their programme will achieve a nationally recognised qualification at the level 3.
