Want to learn how to support and care for those living with dementia? The need for dementia care is growing, and this course will build your skills to care for people with dementia.

You'll develop key dementia knowledge to help you work towards rewarding roles in health and social care and make a positive impact on those who need it most.

  • Learners must live in England
  • Learners must have lived in the European Economic area or the UK for at least

How will I be taught and assessed?

Learners are paired with an experienced assessor and they submit work and are assessed online using the virtual learning environment e-Assessor Pro. Learners are given detailed feedback on their work by their assessors. Any reasonable adjustments to assessment arrangements are made on a person-by-person basis.

You'll study and complete assessments online while you gain a qualification from the comfort of your own home.

All assessments are written and online.

You can split your assessments into chunks, giving you the flexibility to complete them at your own pace and fit your commitments.

An experienced assessor will give you one-to-one support and detailed feedback to help you improve on e-Assessor Pro, a virtual learning platform.

If you need adjustments to your assessments, talk to your tutor for help.

After you complete the Level 2 Principles of Dementia Care course, you'll take the next step towards a higher-level care qualification or entry-level roles.

Distance learning relies on communication between you and the college. We appreciate that learners with busy lives might face challenges in keeping up with their courses. All we ask is that learners stay in touch with us. Learners who don't risk being withdrawn from their courses.

What is the aim of the course?
Fees and Funding

This course is free if you’re eligible for funding, so you gain a recognised qualification and the skills to care for people with dementia at no cost.

The course is fully funded if you:

  • Don't have the qualification you're applying for
  • Live in the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (WEMCA)
  • Or live outside any of the other listed combined authorities.

If the course is co-funded, the fee is £369.00. The full course fee is £1,033.20 if you’re not eligible for funding.

How would I be supported?

Remote distance learners are afforded access to every kind of support available to on campus learners. This includes Welfare support and additional learning support. We have a dedicated Learning Support coordinator who can offer one-to-one support to learners. This can be for a myriad of reasons, ranging from disability, learning difficulties, or just needing some help after being out of education for a long time. There is no need to have a formal diagnosis of any condition to access this support.
