Entry Requirements

You must be over 19 to enter.

And you need to be able to understand simple English at a level E1. This is a beginner level, where you can speak and listen to simple English.

You will also need to bring your immigration documents so we can check that you can study in the UK.

If you are under 19 and you would like to learn English, please look at the ESOL 16-18 Provision and the ESOL 16-18 Pre-Entry courses.

What topics are covered?

You will learn:

  • How to speak, listen, read, and write English
  • Work experience in health and social care
  • Employability sessions to help you prepare for your job interview
How will I be taught and assessed?

You will attend class Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Classes run at the City Centre Campus, with up to 12 other students.

Small, in-person classes mean our tutors can give you extra help every step of the way.

You will also build practical skills with work experience. This will help you get ready for real health and social care jobs.

There are no assessments, so you can progress through real work – not writing.

What can I do next?

You will go to an interview for a live job role with a local employer.

And, with your Level 1 Health and Social Care qualification, you can apply for entry-level roles in a care home.
