This workshop will be run in a small, friendly, tutor led group and is suitable for anyone who is looking to find out what Excel is all about. No prior experience with Excel is expected.

 Excel is widely used in all types of businesses and is excellent for organising and sorting data. However, Microsoft Excel is a very useful tool for the home user. It does a lot more than adding sums!

During the workshops we will explore:

  • How Excel carries out calculations
  • Entering and editing different types of data
  • Adding and deleting rows and columns
  • Using Plus, Minus, Division and Multiplication formulas
  • Formatting the cell content (e.g. time/currency/text)
  • Filling sequential data along rows and columns of data (e.g. SUM, AVERAGE, COUNTA, MIN and MAX, COUNTIF, SUMIF)
  • Sorting and filtering data (e.g. arrange prices A to Z)
  • Conditional filtering (i.e. extracting specific data)
  • Creating charts and graphs
  • Introduce IF function
