Entry Requirements

To join the course, potential learners will need:

  • Two GCSEs grade 3 or above, and
  • GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths (one grade 4 or above, the other grade 3 or above)

Alternatively, returning learners with a relevant level 1 qualification at Merit grade, with English and Maths at an appropriate level, and a recommendation from their tutor will be considered.

All learners will require a clear DBS check.

What topics are covered?
How will I be taught and assessed?

90% of the Course content will be taught formally, with 10% practical content included. There are 2 formal exams during the year and 4 assignment-based assessments. There is a requirement that Learners will engage in weekly work experience and complete one week block placement.

What is the aim of the course?

To ensure that the Learners are well prepared for employment in the Health or Care Industry. This will be achieved by all Learners being encouraged to embed all components of the basic Care Certificate within the course content. Learners will also be able to make an application to practice, within their work placement experience.
