Level 1
Do you prefer working with your hands and tools over pens and textbooks? You will learn basic, practical skills through real projects to prepare for a carpentry role.
As a carpenter, you can progress to an apprenticeship or a higher-level course before you secure a full-time job.
Why should you study this course?
You need a grade 3 or 2 in Maths and English to start this course.
And you will attend an interview to see if the course is right for you.
Each module will give you the confidence and basic skills to progress to the Level 2 Carpentry course.
You will study at the Somer Valley Campus in Radstock 3 times a week.
Learning takes place in the Construction Centre a state-of-the-art workshop that reflects the real carpentry work environment.
You will also attend work-related projects and site visits to build your experience.
To learn theory, you will have access to laptops and PCs in the classroom.
You need to bring safety boots, pencils, pens, and a folder to every lesson.
You can progress to the Level 2 Carpentry course to take the next step in your career.
After Level 2, you can study Level 3 Carpentry or apply for your first role on a construction site.
Previous learners have also become self-employed.
