Do you want to learn basic construction skills in only 5 weeks? If you have no construction experience, this course is your first step to a skilled, in-demand career.
Best of all, this course is part-time, so you dont have to put work commitments or childcare on pause.

Why study this course?
There are no entry requirements to start. But you will need to attend an interview before the course starts.
Here, our tutors will decide if it's the right course for you.
If you feel the course isn't right for you, or you aren't ready yet, please look at our Construction SWAP course instead.
You will attend classes at the Somer Valley Campus in Radstock every Thursday and Friday for five weeks.
Here, you will learn in the Construction Centre in practical workshops to build real experience for real site work.
At the end of the course, you will complete practical assignments and tests.
This will help you build experience that you will actually use on-site.
You can progress to the full-time Level 2 Carpentry course.
In this course, you will practice more complex carpentry skills to prepare you for real carpentry work.
And after you complete Level 2, you can progress to an apprenticeship or the Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Level 3.
