Entry Requirements

The CELTA is a level 5 qualification on the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework).

  • Aimed at adults aged 20+.
  • You must have an education level equal to that needed for entry to higher education.
  • If you dont have the formal qualifications, we can accept you if you show that you can complete the course successfully.
  • You dont need any teaching experience.
  • Youll need to complete a language awareness task, edit a text, and do a mini lesson.
What topics are covered?

This course has five units covering the key areas to help you gain employable skills as an English teacher:

  • Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context.
  • Language analysis and awareness.
  • Language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Lesson planning, resources, and materials.
  • Developing teaching skills and professionalism.
How will I be taught and assessed?

This course is in-person and practical. It helps you build experience and skills to prepare for the hands-on teaching environment.

  • 120 contact hours.
  • Teaching Practice (6 hours of assessed teaching practice).
  • Written Assignments (4 assignments split over the course length).
  • Supported lesson planning.
