Would you like to work in a spa and beauty therapy setting? This programme will ensure you develop multiple skills to provide a high level of service to clients such as therapies to reduce tension and stress e.g., body wraps and spa manicures. The level 3 qualification will also provide you with the skills in advanced skin care, gel nail varnish and body massage. Bath College are fortunate to have strong links with local 5 star spas such as Lucknam Park, The Royal Crescent, The Priory, Kaleidoscope Collection and the Potting Shed treatment rooms at The Pig, who offer work experience. This programme comes with up to 84 UCAS points.
Age: 16-19
4 x GCSE's at grade 4 and above in Maths, English and Science
These courses will be taught through a combination of classroom theory sessions and practical sessions in our dedicated public facing Academy salon. Your work will be internally and externally assessed, and you will have to complete a final practical assessment at the end of each unit, as well as a final practical synoptic assessment demonstrating skills in a combination of treatments. There will be two external written assessments as well as keeping a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your achievement. You will be graded pass, merit or distinction.
You may want to progress onto the T Level route (equivalent to three A Levels), employment within industry or an apprenticeship.
You will be covering topics such as steam, sauna and spa, body massage, body wraps, spa manicures and pedicures, hot stone massage, holistic facials treatments as well as anatomy and physiology and theory units. These programmes will build the skills you need to work in beauty salons and spas, while also equipping you with an industry-recognised qualification at the relevant level. You will be expected to complete work experience within a salon or spa.
