If you want to study Functional Skills or English and Maths GCSEs, please see English and Maths.
We have courses at different levels with class sizes of up to 16 students.
You can attend classes in the mornings, afternoons and evenings for our adult programmes.
For our teenage learners, we offer a full-time provision over 4 days, with classes in the mornings and afternoons.
Before you enrol in a course, you will be invited to an English language assessment. This helps us decide which course is best for you.

Some courses are free, but some have a small fee. This price is different for everyone.

Prepare for the Ascentis Skills for Life exams in Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening.
Our exam classes are 6 hours per week (3 hours per lesson, twice a week).

Improve your English while developing a better understanding of life in the UK.
Our non-exam classes are 4 hours per week (2 hours per lesson, twice a week).

With your teacher, you will agree and work towards your learning goals.
If you are able to join a Living and Working in the UK course, you will also develop your understanding of key aspects of British society.
We offer courses from levels A0 – B2 in the CEF (Common European Framework) or Pre-entry – L1 (Skills for Life).

These courses can help you if English is not your first language. We offer provision for levels E1 to E3 (CEF: A1 – B1).
You can study for English and Maths qualifications while also trying different vocational subjects, like Health & Social Care or Construction.
Attend free English lessons on Wednesday evenings (6 pm – 8 pm) with teachers training to become qualified teachers in our CELTA programme.
If you would like to teach English to speakers of other languages in the UK or abroad, the Cambridge CELTA course is the qualification.
It is globally recognised, and employers highly request this qualification.
The CELTA course at Bath College is face-to-face and will help you develop the practical skills you need (including teaching practice with groups of students) and the theory.
The course is suitable if you have no experience or some experience
It is a level 5 qualification on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

However, if you are over 18 or don’t have the right educational background, you may be accepted if our interview process suggests you would be likely to complete the course successfully.
You will need to complete pre-interview language tasks and an interview to be offered a place on the course.
