Bath City Football Academies (Male and Female) Level 2/3
Are you an elite footballer looking to develop your technical and coaching skills whilst gaining an education in academic sport? Our Bath City Football Academies Level 2 and 3 programmes have been developed in collaboration with Bath City FC and Bath City Community Trust. Students attend Bath College to study in the mornings and train in the afternoons. Academy training includes one of the Level 2 or Level 3 Sports Education programmes mentioned on the previous pages, Coaching and Player Development, Strength and Conditioning training.
What topics are covered?
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Development, Coaching and Fitness is a two year programme, designed to prepare you for higher education or for employment in the sport and fitness industry. This course combines the written and practical elements of the subject area and is equivalent to three A-Levels. You will be given the opportunity to learn about sport in a practical and applied environment.
As a full-time student at Bath College, you will follow a study programme consisting of a vocational diploma, maths and English, employability skills, volunteering and tutorial. Please visit our Study Programmes page for details.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is most suited for people aged 16-18 who are just starting (out on their) vocational learning.
What are the entry requirements?
Five GCSEs grade C/4 or above, including maths and English.
What qualifications will I gain?
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Development, Coaching and Fitness.

How will I learn?
You will be allocated a College Tutor who will work with you throughout your time at the College to help you balance your academic and your football priorities. Your tutor will also help you set targets to achieve the grades you require for university, if you choose to study further, and will also help with things like work experience and looking for employment after College. You will be taught by a team of highly professional and experienced teachers, most of whom specialise in coaching. You will be taught a range of different units depending on the programme, some theory based in our classrooms at the College site in the centre of the City, and some practical sessions based up at the University of Bath Sports Training Village and at Bath Sports Centre.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be required to purchase your training kit, to include shorts or tracksuit bottoms, 2 x training tops and a Hoodie. You can also purchase additional items in the online shop such as kit bags, water bottles and additional clothing should you so choose.
What funding is available?If you are aged 19 or over you may be eligible to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learning Loan to cover your tuition fees.
