Glass – Kiln Formed
This workshop will introduce you to the process of making kiln formed glass. You will make sample projects that will give you an understanding of a variety of techniques and processes. The work produced will be kiln fired to be collected the following week. All tools, equipment and float glass will be provided. If you wish to use coloured glass, you will be able to purchase materials at cost price.
What topics are covered?
You will be given a short overview of kiln-formed glass history and an introduction to the variety of techniques and processes used in projects. Beginners will be taught to cut glass safely with specialist tools and equipment and shown how to work in a safe environment. The Tutor will show examples of kiln-formed glass and demonstrate various processes for you. You can then choose what you would like to explore and make samples and small projects using float (window glass) and special fusing glass. All glass will be fired after the workshop and arrangements will be made to collect work the following week. All relevant Health & Safety issues will be addressed.
