Automotive Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006) Level 3 Award
This is a single unit of a vocational related qualification (VRQ). The course includes both theoretical and practical learning. During the course learners will be assessed both practically and via an online test to ensure they have the required competence, they will need to successfully pass both to receive certification.
What topics are covered?
The operation of A/C systems in motor vehicles; properties of the fluorinated greenhouse gases used as refrigerants in A/C systems in motor vehicles, the impact of the emissions of these gases on the environment; provisions of regulation (EC) No 842/2006 and Directive 2006/40/EC; common procedures for recovering fluorinated greenhouse gases; how to handle a refrigerant cylinder; connection and disconnection of a recovery set to and from the service ports of a motor vehicle A/C system containing fluorinated greenhouse gases; be able to operate a recovery set.

Where will I need to go on my first day?On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Cam Building at Somer Valley Campus.

Please bring safety footwear and suitable clothing.

A basic understanding of the operation of air conditioning systems.
