Julia is a well organised and well prepared tutor. She had carefully planned sessions but also gave students flexibility in order to address particular needs and interests.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and learnt new skills which I now need to practice before my next course.
Highly motivating and gave me a glimpse of what can be achieved with practice and perseverance.

This is a lovely introduction to botanical illustration and ten weeks gives the space to explore the main threads without being too rushed. In the group were people with all sorts of previous experience and none, and the atmosphere was friendly and supportive. Julia is an extremely experienced artist who wears her knowledge lightly and whose interventions were sensitive and always helpful. Each class began with some exemplars, a little bit of botany and a practical demonstration and thereafter we were allowed to follow our own paths from a selection of plant materials which were provided. We learned how to use a simple, and therefore inexpensive palette and it was obvious that we all gained in confidence and experience as the weeks went on. We were provided with professional quality materials and most of us, I’m sure, will continue to practice. I’d recommend this course without reservation.
