Garden Design: Cottage Gardens
This garden design course is an opportunity to learn how the Cottage Garden style developed and how to create it with a modern approach with advice from a professional garden designer.
Participants are welcome to bring along ideas for their own cottage garden projects to be discussed in class.
What topics are covered?
The history of the cottage garden;
Design ideas for cottage gardens in modern times;
Suitable plants to recreate the traditional romantic style.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is suitable for anyone who feels that their existing garden could be enhanced by this most enchanting English garden style.
Who will be my tutor?

How will I learn?
The students will be engaged with new ideas or techniques throughout both sessions.
Students will be shown samples of landscaping materials and plants together with design ideas.
They will have regular opportuities to discuss their own gardening problems and solutions with feedback from the group and the tutor.
Where will I need to go on my first day?On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Cam Building at Somer Valley Campus.
What do I need to bring?
Some photographs of their garden if they would like to. A pen/pencil.
Handouts will be provided.
What else do I need to know?To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check the term dates.
