Getting by in Spanish – Summer Course

This general-purpose introduction to Spanish course works on building all of the basic skills and language needed to be successful in everyday situations. Designed for absolute beginners who have developed an interest in the language, this course is perfect for travelling, working or simply holidaying in any Spanish speaking country. By the end of the course, you will be able to take part in simple conversations and understand everyday information.

What topics are covered?

This course is designed to cover the basic topics needed to get by in Spanish such as: greetings and introductions, talking about yourself and your family, booking hotels, travelling and understanding directions, shopping and eating out.

Who is the course aimed at?

Those with very little or no knowledge of the language at all. This course is suitable for absolute beginners who have developed an interest in the language for travelling, working or simply holidaying in any Spanish speaking country. 

Who will be my tutor?

Carmen Nueda is a dedicated and passionate native speaking teacher who has been teaching for over 20 years. In this time Carmen has taught from beginners to advanced learners in some very diverse environments, making further education her priority and passion.

How will I learn?

The course will be taught in a variety of formats to suit everyone’s learning styles: audios, videos, handouts, PowerPoint presentations and interactive activities, all delivered through individual/pair work, peer review and group exercises.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

This is an Online Course so please join via Teams on your electronic device.

What do I need to bring?

Students will need an electronic device (PC, Mac, Tablet or Phone) and the Microsoft Teams Application to participate in Online lessons via Teams.

What else do I need to know?

When you have been enrolled on your course you will receive a confirmation email containing information about where to go, campus information, parking and the Student Code of Conduct. This email will be sent to the email address provided in the online booking.You will be required to wear a photographic ID badge at all times when in College. Please email a passport style photograph stating your full name and course title in the subject line to StudentID@bathcollege.ac.uk

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check the term dates.

Cancelling your enrolment

If you have to cancel your enrolment please notify us by email: info@bathcollege.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Refunds will not be issued if a learner is unable to attend due to a change of mind including concerns about Covid-19, accommodation, domestic circumstances, work commitments or if the College requires a learner to leave for reasons of conduct.
