I really enjoyed the course and felt I came away with a clear set of basic ‘instructions’ for the initial stages of tackling interior design. Information was delivered clearly and concisely by the tutor in a relaxed and informal way, with interesting bits of historical referencing to support why styles changed throughout the ages. My photoshop skills, which were non-existent before the course, are now perfectly adequate for producing a reasonably good quality mood board that could be presented to a client.
The only negative would be that there was no interaction between any of the other pupils on the course. I would have liked to see what they were doing, and hear why they had chosen the styles and designs they had. I think using the mac computers probably made this more challenging, and if everyone had chosen to do their mood boards in the more traditional way of cutting and pasting from magazines then it probably would have been easier to see other people’s work. Perhaps the last lesson could have been dedicated to a group presentation of work and general discussion.
Overall a really enjoyable course and a great way to start learning about interior design, whether for your own personal enjoyment or to pursue as a potential career.

I always thought interior design was not for me as I truly believed I was not creative and always struggled to put things together to show them in their best light. The tutor was so encouraging and every concept and idea was encouraged and explored. She just made you look at things in a different way. This course taught me there is so much more to interior design than I could ever have imagined from the history of colour, our own personal cultural influences, functionality, cohesiveness and many more. There were a great bunch of people on the course with all levels of ability including complete novices like me! This course has given me the confidence to put my ideas into practice and finally make a start on planning and decorating my living room!
