Professional Illustration

This creative 10-week course will provide an introduction to professional illustration. It will be based around a choice of several illustration briefs, which you will have the opportunity to complete within the ten-week course. It will also include discussions on professional practice, copyright and personal promotion. You will be encouraged to develop your working methods and personal style, whilst exploring the use of different tools and materials. Along with traditional media, digital work will be encouraged using our state-of-the-art Mac facilities. If you are unfamiliar with digital techniques, this will be an opportunity to explore digital illustration using the leading industry-standard software.

What topics are covered?

While working on your chosen brief, there will be opportunities to develop a personal style and to explore the different aspects and characteristics of various media including the use of digital tools. During the Illustration course, there will also be several presentations followed by group discussions on various aspects of professional practice, including copyright and self-promotion.

How will I learn?

The course is designed to engage students directly in a specific illustration project of their choice. During the classes, professional guidance and advice will be available on an individual basis from the tutor. In addition, there will be several presentations accompanied by group discussions on various aspects of professional illustration.

Are there any additional costs?

Your tutor will advise you on the purchase of any additional materials or equipment.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.

What else do I need to know?

When you have been enrolled on your course you will receive a confirmation email containing information about where to go, campus information, parking and the Student Code of Conduct. This email will be sent to the email address provided in the online booking.You will be required to wear a photographic ID badge at all times when in College. Please email a passport style photograph stating your full name and course title in the subject line to StudentID@bathcollege.ac.uk

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check the term dates.

Cancelling your enrolment

If you have to cancel your enrolment please notify us by email: info@bathcollege.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Refunds will not be issued if a learner is unable to attend due to a change of mind including concerns about Covid-19, accommodation, domestic circumstances, work commitments or if the College requires a learner to leave for reasons of conduct.
