Sport Level 1
Are you interested in learning about the Sport and Leisure industry? This Sport level 1 study programme will introduce this exciting industry. You will have the opportunity to develop your theoretical and practical knowledge of Sport and will study a range of units which will include Practical Sport, Self- Assessment, and Progression and Nutrition. You will study in a variety of ways including practical and theory based assessment, group and team project based activities and individual course work.
What topics are covered?
Topics of study include:
- taking part in sport
- how the body works
- planning a fitness programme and
- assisting at a sport or leisure event.

Who is the course aimed at?
This course is most suited for people aged 16-18 who are just starting (out on their) vocational learning.
What are the entry requirements?
You will have studied at entry level or have four GCSEs grade E/2 or above, including Maths and English, and want to study a vocationally relevant course in sport and leisure.
What qualifications will I gain?
BTEC Level 1 Diploma

How will I learn?
You will cover theoretical elements of the course in the classroom, with practical sessions at Bath Sports Centre.
How will I be assessed?
There will be practical assessments, presentations and written assignments.
What can I do after this course?
You can progress on to a level 2 course in sport, public services or travel and tourism.
Are there any additional costs?
Suitable sports clothing (this will include the purchase of at least one College polo shirt) to be worn both in practical sessions and classrooms

What organisations does the College work with on this course?
The College has exciting links with Southampton FC, Bath City FC, England RFU Touch and England Netball, with students having the opportunity to get ‘Back to Netball’ and involved in O2 touch.
