This HNC course focuses on the skills needed to assess and evaluate competence and decisions in business and to effectively manage time, resources and organisational needs. You will also learn and implement how to best assess and reflect upon your own performance as well as how you communicate in a business environment. This qualification is designed to ensure that you build and improve your skills in management, analytical research, independent enquiry, reflective learning and creative thinking.

What are the entry requirements?
To join the course you will need one of the following Level 3 qualifications: BTEC Level 3 Extended/Diploma/Access to HE Diploma or 1 x A-level or 2 x AS-levels. We also ask for maths and English (full qualification) minimum Grade 4. Mature students who do not meet the entry criteria are encouraged to apply and will be considered on the basis of relevant work experience, passing the course entrance assessment (if deemed necessary by the admissions tutor) and successful interview. If your first language is not English, learners should have a minimum of 6.0 IELTS. All applications will be scrutinised and considered on merit.

How will I learn?
The course will be delivered through online distance learning.
What hours will I be in college?
Students can complete the course entirely online, and at a pace agreed with your tutor. Students are also able to attend taught sessions in College. You will be allocated a tutor who will be able to arrange this.
How will I be assessed?
To successfully complete the programme students will need to study 120 credits (8 units). Progress through the course will be assessed through a series of written assignments and oral presentations. Support to help students prepare for these assignments will be offered as part of the programme. Assignment-based study is an important part of this course and will require good communication and numerical skills, as well as the ability to carry out independent research.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of the course, you will be able progress onto a Higher National Diploma course or join a business degree at a university, subject to achieving the required grades.

There are no additional costs, only the course fees are applicable.
What funding is available?

What facilities are available?
Students studying this course will have access to the same resources in College as our Full-time students. This included access to the HE Study Space, the Learning Centre and recreation facilities such as the Café and Student Common Room.

Where will I need to go on my first day?
Students can enrol for this course at any time, and will be allocated a tutor once they have enrolled. Your tutor will help you determine the pace of your learning and will provide 1:1 support.
What else do I need to know?
Students can enrol throughout the year. It is anticipated that the course will take 12-18 months to complete, but the pace of learning will be determined between the student and the tutor.
