Food and Beverage Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship

Course Overview

This Apprenticeship is for those people who are working front of house in pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels. You could be serving cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, working in a carvery, buffet or delivering silver service. You will be giving a good impression of yourself and your organisation. You will gain the skills you need to deliver a great dining experience with an Apprenticeship. You will learn essential skills in areas like food safety, handling payments, bookings and serving food and drink including the legalities of serving alcohol. This Apprenticeship will also cover cellar work and stock control.


What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

What qualifications will I gain?

To achieve the full award candidates must complete:

NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service
Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food and Beverage Services)
Functional skills at level 1 in English and Maths

All apprentices must also complete:

Employment Responsibilities and Rights
Personal learning and thinking skills

How will I be assessed?

Assessment of the NVQ is carried out in the workplace and the assessor will help your employee to identify any gaps in their knowledge or skills and plan to close these gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.

Assessment of the other elements will take place in college by exam for the certificate in hospitality and catering principles and by day release for the funtional skills if they have not already been achieved.

What can I do after this course?

Successful learners could move into a Level 3 qualification into a supervisory role or progress their career within the hospitality industry.
