A good course with helpful and encouraging tutors. It is a shame that there is no metal guillotine, this would make a big difference.

Plenty of guidance, creative suggestions, patience and help from James on the Wednesday morning Metal Sculpture course. Very informative, health and safety always explained with each new tool, harmonious and positive workshop atmosphere. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I booked it at the last minute but it has turned out to be very interesting and relaxing, and I can see that it could definitely become an absorbing hobby.

This is a fabulous and addictive course. Tuesday evenings are the highlight of my week.
Steve is a really great tutor. On our first day we all got on a welder in the first hour. It’s very hands-on.
He is happy to let you get on and explore, but is always there to offer useful advice to help you understand when and how things didn’t quite go to plan. Steve is always very encouraging and helps you get the best out of the experience. The work our group produced in 10 weeks was fabulous and inspiring. Pity there isn’t a gallery.

Very knowledgeable and approachable instructor. Great workshop. Over all exactly what I was looking for.

The tutor is just excellent. He has a canny ability to know when to teach and when to supervise, allowing you to progress your ideas as if it’s an open studio…and that goes whatever level you may be at.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I enrolled on my first sculpting in metal course. I am now on my third and completely addicted. The lecturer is very encouraging and allows you to be as creative and imaginative as you want to be. There is a relaxed atmosphere and the other students have all been really friendly. This is a fab course and I would highly recommend it. My one criticism is I can only attend once a week. I wish there were two courses running as I would enrol on to both of them!

Sculpting in Metal has become something I look forward to each week. Since I started, I’ve learnt how to weld, bend, shape and cut metal in many different ways – including using the plasma cutter which is my personal favourite. I was a bit anxious about trying some of these things before I started, but the tutor really put everyone at ease so that soon disappeared. I really enjoy the designing process too – making models from cardboard and exploring how to achieve the effects with metal. Steve is really knowledgeable and has lots of reference books to help along the way. He always has loads of great ideas and is really encouraging throughout the course. I would totally recommend this course to anyone who is looking for something a bit different to do – it’s great fun and you can learn loads in the process.

A great course! I have been going to the Wednesday sculpture course for many years and have always wanted to learn to weld etc,… The Tuesday ‘Sculpting with Metal’ course has opened up a whole new way of working and a different approach to making sculpture. I now do both courses.
