Sport Coaching and Exercise Science FdSc
The HE Sport programme is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue or develop their knowledge and understanding across a range of sporting topics. Combining a range of vocational and employability-based skills, learners will study key topic areas including Nutrition, Sport Psychology, Coaching and Biomechanics. The FdSc Sport, Coaching and Exercise Science course combines practical instruction with academic interactive teaching, including a varied range of assessment methods and is ideally suited to either those graduating from Level 3 or A-level courses or those looking for a lifestyle change with experience or keen interest in a sports career.

Learning and developing the fundamental skills of research methods is critical to any Higher Education programme and is included as a core unit. Every opportunity will be given to embed and apply these core skills in all units culminating in a final year research project within a chosen discipline of your choice. The units of study offer a contemporary balance covering the full range of Sport Science subject areas. Opportunities for additional industry validated qualifications will also be made available during your programme.

What are the entry requirements?
To join the course you will need:
- 80+ UCAS points from
- BTEC Level 3 Extended/Diploma or
- AS / A2 / A levels or
- Access to HE Diploma
- English and maths GCSE (full qualification) minimum Grade C/4
- An interview will be required as part of the admissions process
Mature students will be considered on an individual basis.

How will I learn?
These courses offer in-depth theory combined with learning and development of essential practical skills in all aspects of Sport and Sport Science. A variety of teaching strategies will be used to ensure that you learn within an engaging and interactive Higher Education environment. The programmes offer a blend of in-depth underpinning theory combined with a strong emphasis on applied learning and development of essential practical skills in all vocational aspects of Sport and Sport Science. How will I be assessed?
A variety of assessment methods will be used. Examples of assessment methods include essays, reports, oral presentations, practical coaching sessions and research projects.
What can I do after this course?
If you successfully achieve this qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a variety of Sport Honours Degree programmes, depending on overall and specific unit grades, including BSc (Hons) Applied Sport and Exercise Studies (Level 6) at the University of Gloucestershire. Excellent employment opportunities exist in the sport, coaching, health and exercise science industries.

This Level 5 FdSc in Sport Coaching and Exercise Science costs £7,500.
