Barbering Intermediate Apprenticeship

Course Overview

This Apprenticeship covers the cutting and styling the hair of men and boys (those who also want to work on female hair should investigate the Hairdressing Apprenticeship). You’ll also learn about (and be tested on) other issues related to barbering, like hygiene, disposing of chemicals and working in a team.

Functional Skills in English Level 2

Functional Skills in Maths Level 2

Employer’s Rights and Responsibilities


Who is the course aimed at?

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to develop their skills in this vocational area.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum of ‘D’ grade in GCSE English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 1

How will I be assessed?

Assessment of the NVQ is carried out in the workplace and at college and the assessor will help you to identify any gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.

The functional skills elements will be assessed in college with a tutor.

What can I do after this course?

The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.
