Site Carpentry and Bench Joinery Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship

Course Overview

This Apprenticeship is suitable for all those people working in these specialised areas, installing a range of first fixing components including: door/window frames and linings, floor joist coverings, partitions, plasterboard and staircases, installing second fixing components including: doors, mouldings, ironmongery, wall/floor units and cladding. It also covers, installation of structural carcassing installing inclined roofs, eaves details, joists. With Bench Joinery you will be working in a joinery environment dealing with setting out, marking out and production of a range of joinery items such as frames, linings, doors, fitments and /or stairs. In addition you will be required to read and extract information from drawings and specifications, conform to general workplace safety guidelines, security and waste management controls. College work will include training and instruction on the same criteria as above including tests and examinations and practical assessments of the training criteria. Apprentices will undertake an NVQ and have to produce a portfolio of work evidence, with observations carried out in the workplace by assessors.

What qualifications will I gain?

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) Site Carpentry

or Bench Joinery.

Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry

Functional Skills in English Level 2

Functional Skills in Maths Level 2

Employers rights and responsibilities.

2 days per week at college with exams and practical assessment

Exams and practical assessment.

What can I do after this course?

Successful candidates can progress to the Carpentry Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

This curse runs at both the Somer Valley and the City Centre Campus.
