Electrical Installation Level 2 Diploma (EAL) (QCF)

Course Overview

The Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation is an industry-recognised qualification which will give you the required knowledge and craft skills in electrical installation. You will practice and be assessed on the installation of wiring systems, alongside the relevant theory. You do not need workplace experience, so this course is ideal for you if you want to move into the electrical industry.

 

This course is based at our new state-of-the-art Construction Skills Centre at our Somer Valley Campus.

What topics are covered?

The main programme consists of five units of study, including:

 

  • Electrical installation methods
  • Electrical science and principles
  • Health and safety

 

In addition to these modules, units covering areas of building services engineering are delivered. You will also have the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide.

 

As a full-time student at Bath College, you will follow a study programme consisting of a vocational diploma, maths and English, employability skills, volunteering and tutorial. Please visit our Study Programmes page for details.

What are the entry requirements?

Full GCSE grade C/4 in English, maths and science.

 

You will be required to pass an assessment and you will also be interviewed.

What qualifications will I gain?

QCF Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation.

How will I learn?

The main programme is delivered through practical workshop sessions supported by classroom-based theory and laboratory project sessions.

What hours will I be in college?

Two days per week.

How will I be assessed?

Practical tests are set throughout the course in conjunction with multi-choice exams and assignments. A portfolio of evidence will be produced.

What can I do after this course?

On successful completion of this course, there is a range of flexible and specialised trade training to get you started in your chosen career.

 

There are also numerous opportunities for apprenticeships and work-based learning for those already in employment.

This course is most suited for people aged 16-18 and may also meet the needs of mature students up to 25 years.
