Food Production and Cooking Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship
This Apprenticeship is for those people who are working in the catering areas of licensed retail outlets, schools and small establishments. It is also ideal for vegetarian outlets. This qualification covers the production of a range of basic food items as well as additional units to choose from which reflect your current job role. These include dealing with payments, providing a counter/takeaway service, converting a room for dining to completing kitchen documentation.

What qualifications will I gain?
To achieve the full award candidates must complete:
NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Food Production and Cooking
Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food Production and Cooking)
Functional skills at level 2 in English and Maths
All apprentices must also complete:
Employment Responsibilities and Rights
Personal learning and thinking skills
How will I be assessed?
Assessment of the NVQ is carried out in the workplace and the assessor will help your employee to identify any gaps in their knowledge or skills and plan to close these gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.
Assessment of the other elements will take place in college by exam for the certificate in hospitality and catering principles and by day release for the funtional skills if they have not already been achieved.
What can I do after this course?
The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.
