Printed Textiles – Holiday Workshop

Join us for our four-day intensive Printed Textiles Holiday Workshop and explore and experiment with dyes, mark-making, colour, surface and texture. Create exciting accessories or art works using screen printing and hand rendering techniques. Materials will be provided for your initial project. You will be given the opportunity to purchase further materials as required.

What topics are covered?

An introduction to screen print.
Creating artwork /imagery for print with mark making and Lino cutting.
Techniques to include pigment, metallic, puff binder, foiling, flocking, discharge and cross dyeing with devoré
Exploring print on natural fibres.
Sublimation or heat press print using Dysperse dyes on synthetic fabrics.
The programme is designed to build a repertoire of skills through the week so the student works toward their own goals, having a personal tutorial with the tutor to create textile pieces from which to make their final outcome whether commercial product, textile art or samples.

Suitable for all abilities – beginners and those with experience.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.

What else do I need to know?

To avoid disappointment, please make sure you enrol on your chosen course early. Decisions regarding running or cancelling a course are made one week prior to the start of the course. If a course is cancelled, you will be informed and your course fees refunded in full. Please see Terms and Conditions of Enrolment.

The course will not run on bank holidays or during half term. Please check the term dates.

    Have just finished the 4 day Summer course and it as been amazing, inspiring, wonderful and exhausting !
    Lyn is an excellent tutor, who demonstrated lots of different techniques , was full of ideas and supported each student individually , so everyone produced beautiful work, irrespective of their previous textile experience.
    Total beginners would find this course inspiring and be introduced to different methods of printing on fabric,
    In 4 days I produced a huge amount of work and am looking forward to transforming some of the printed fabric into products.
    Lyn is very knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging , I leant so much and will definitely return to continue to develop my skills. I appreciate having this level of course available to attend – Thankyou 😀
