Site Carpentry Level 2 Diploma
Site Carpentry is one of two options you can take after successfully passing your Level 1 programme in Carpentry and Joinery. You will add to your knowledge with new projects, assessments and developing your practical skills in the workshop.

- Health, safety and welfare in the construction and associated industries
- Understanding information, quantities and communications with others
- Understanding construction technology
- Preparation and use of portable power tools
- How to carry out first fixing operations
- How to carry out second fixing operations
- How to carry out structural carcassing operations
- How to carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work

Who is the course aimed at?
This course is most suited for people aged 16-18 and may also meet the needs of mature students up to 25 years.
What are the entry requirements?
You must have successfully completed Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.

Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry

How will I learn?
This programme is run in a realistic training environment, where you will be able to show what you can do as an individual, through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification. There will be a mixture of classroom theory and practical coursework.
What hours will I be in college?
2 or 2.5 days a week
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through workshop-based practical assessments and multiple choice end-of-unit knowledge tests.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you can progress onto the Site Carpentry Level 3 course or further courses in construction design and management.

What facilities are available?
Bath College’s Construction Skills Centre is a dedicated facility for construction craft in wood occupations, with workshops that are well-equipped with a range of carpentry tools. Well-appointed classrooms and computer facilities enhance the workshops and provide a link between the practical and the knowledge-based aspects of the course.

Where will I need to go on my first day?
On your first day, please report to the Reception in Wellow Building at Somer Valley Campus or the Construction Skills Centre, depending upon where you have chosen to do this course.

Safety boots, tape measure, 2h pencils, pens and a folder
