Travel and Tourism Level 2

Course Overview

Our Travel and Tourism Level 2 study programme provides a general overview of the travel and tourism industry in order to prepare you for your employment in the sector or progression to Level 3. You will study a range of units including UK travel and tourism sector, The nature and effects of world travel, Customer service in travel and tourism and Visitor attractions. You will study in a variety of ways including presentations, group work and role-plays, and field trips. There will be internal and external assessment through exams, coursework, presentations and role-plays.

What topics are covered?

This Level 2 Diploma will help you to gain knowledge of the travel and tourism industry.

  • The UK Travel and Tourism Sector
  • Understanding the Nature and Effects of World Travel
  • Understanding Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • European Destinations
  • UK Tourism Destinations
  • Employability
  • Worldwide Destinations

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is most suited for people aged 16-18 who are just starting (out on their) vocational learning.

What are the entry requirements?

Four full GCSEs at D/3 or above including maths and English Language.

What qualifications will I gain?

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism

Who is the awarding body?

Edexcel

How will I learn?

You will take part in informative and challenging interactive sessions whereby you will be encouraged to develop independent research skills to support you in achieving your targets in each unit.

What hours will I be in college?

This course will run for an average of 15 hours per week and you will be expected to give additional time to study and complete course work and assignments.

How will I be assessed?

All of the work on the Level 2 Travel and Tourism programme is course work assessment and there are no exams. You will be expected to submit evidence in a variety of ways including presentations, role plays, discussions, reports etc to show your understanding of the units on the programme.

What can I do after this course?

You can progress to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism. You may also be able to find suitable employment within the industry in a variety of exciting roles.

Where will I need to go on my first day?

On your first day, please report to the Reception in the Roper Building at City Centre Campus.
