At the beginning of the month our Adult Community Learning students received their hard earned certificates alongside some delicious afternoon tea and cakes.
At Bath College, the Adult Community Learning programme provides a wide range of courses aimed at those who want to improve their chances of finding work, support their family or live independently. These courses will involve free English and Maths assessments to those who have not already obtained a C or above at GCSE. The courses themselves are led in small groups by supportive and experienced tutors, and will always be fun and engaging!
All the students have been working hard towards their English and Maths qualifications, and some of them even achieved 3 or 4 different awards, an incredible achievement! Each learner has taken the biggest step in coming back to College to achieve these qualifications and we couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication that they have showed towards their work.
Sharon Purvis read each award out, these were then given out by Laurel Penrose, Bath College Principal. Each student got the opportunity to have a photo taken with their awards to mark the day, and will be given these to take away as a memento. After the awards were given out Laurel addressed the whole group, stating:
“Thank you for being part of the college and for showing the tenacity to complete the course. Congratulations!”
It was then time to enjoy some afternoon tea and cake, to really celebrate the day’s achievements. There was such a good atmosphere, everyone was laughing and celebrating receiving their certificates. One learner said:
“I would like to say to anyone who is thinking of doing an English course, do it. Please don’t do what I did and put it off for so long. I had no skills at the start but I’ve worked to gain Level 1 and 2. I have met some wonderful people and I look back with pride in myself.”
We really couldn’t be more proud of our community learning students, and we are looking forward to seeing where they’re new qualifications take them!
